Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat) Dog

Cipher the Dog needs a home

One lucky person will be able to call themselves Cipher's human family.  He is just the best dog in the world!

Cipher is house trained and has had no accidents, not one since he has come to our home.  He is your normal rambunctious teenager who loves to run, jump, play, and give kisses.  Cipher is a digger and we have been working with him to stop this.  He is also a chewer, which is very typical for this age.  He will stick to chewing his chew toys as long as there are enough for him lying around.  For this reason, you may want to kennel him while you are away or put him in a place where he has lots of chew toys and not much chance for chewing something you value.  Cipher will have no accidents while you are gone, but you may find him chewing on your favorite sandals when you get home!

Cipher is great on a leash and does do well at coming back to you at an off-leash dog park.  He is quiet and does not bark much, only when someone is walking to the house.  He would love a yard with a tie out or a fenced in yard.  Cipher loves to run and be energetic, so he would benefit from a yard where he can do this.  However, since he still is a puppy, he will not stay around the yard if there is no fence or tie out.

Cipher is outgoing, goofy, and eager to please!  He is a wonderful snuggler and loves being pet.  He is great around kids and loves to give lots of kisses and snuggles.  Cipher is the right size dog for a family with children.  He listens when you say no and loves to be near people.  He is also crate trained during the day, but usually sleeps with our other dog in the bedroom and they snooze together very nicely.

Cipher needs some minor work at learning not to jump on the couch, table, and other people, but this is very minor problem.  He is still young and on the small side so it’s not a big problem.  Another thing to note is that he gets terrified when getting into the car, having to take his bath, being chastised, and anyone moving fast towards him.  He didn’t have the kindest start and is still learning that people are kind, cars mean fun, and that running water doesn’t have to be scary.  When Cipher experiences things he is afraid of he cowers and his poor little body shakes and shivers.  He hasn’t had the best past, but he is learning to trust more and more that he is in a safe environment.  When Cipher is scared and shaky, the best remedy is to give him snuggles and he overcomes it very nicely.  He is really a great dog and when you adopt Cipher, you will have the joy of including him into your family!
